It was brought to my attention that most of you didn’t know that I have an amazing side kick, Esmerelda. We call her Esme for short. When I realized I had only made remarks in posts about having a dog, and never sharing this hairy beast, I had to change that.
Esme is eight years old and a black German Shepherd. She is faithful, loving, and has such a kind heart. There is only one drawback, if you knock on the door, she goes into I didn’t invite you mode. Now, if you have a Dream Bone in your hand or something really tasty like a Ham Sammy, she most likely will let you in if you toss it to her and immediately sit down. She’s not quite Cujo unless she sees a chipmunk. I have to pause in writing this post because someone wants to eat.
Esme at 11 and 13 weeks old. She stole my heart as soon as I brought her home.
Esme and her sister Esther became a part of our family after our belovedΒ chihuahua, Marge, passed away. I never thought in a million years I could ever love a dog as much as I loved him. Marge was a boy, I know…odd, but it fit. I was wrong, I love her endlessly and is truly a best friend. Unfortunately, we were only blessed with Esther for five years before illness took her too soon.
Esme and Esther, they were truly sisters. Fight one minute and love each other the next. So Linda, I can completely relate.
Esme has changed a bit since Esther has passed. She is more spoiled, vocal, and she has learned some sign language. It’s fun to be able to communicate without words, I twirl my finger in a circle to tell her to wipe her feet at the door. Now if she could hold the doggy wipe and wipe her paws when raining it would be amazing!
So when I am creating, she is laying beneath my desk with her head on my foot. I don’t think my creations would be quite the same without her by my side. There is nothing better and more pure than loving and being loved by a dog. I love seeing everyone’s pets and the crazy things they do. I hope you continue to share your pets with all of us.
We hope you have a beautiful Sunday!
Much love.
Lisa & Esme
Thanks for sharing her with us! You must give us more stories about Esme. I’m sure there are a bunch, and I can’t believe you kept them from us!! Your comment about Esme and Esther gives me hope. My two are doing better and I’m hoping we can beat the odds. Hugs from me and sloppy kisses from the beasts…or was that the other way around!? π

Oh, I do have the stories about my hounds! I can completely relate. You will beat the odds and I am so happy they are getting better. It takes time. Seems like just the wrong look or hoof can start a wrestling match. I absolutely love reading about Walter and Greta and I am so glad you agreed to the special project. Hugs right back to you and Esme loves sloppy wet kisses especially after visiting the water bowl. Get your rain gear out! Much love πππΎππ

Things are better, but not perfect. Every day we make a little progress. I agreed to do what, huh when? Hehe, I do believe I did give consent for something but it was probably while I was distracted. ;P Dominique has me wondering what the surprise is. It’s killing her because she can’t tell me!

You’re both evil; you know that, right? And I suppose Darren and Roda are right in the thick of it, too. I have no chance!!!

Love the pic of Esme. She is such a special dog, just like Marge. She is special because she has a special Mom. Just love your post.

Oh, Lisa. I’m beside myself. My step-son has a black German Shepherd/Border Collie named, Dooley. Your girl looks so much like Dooley. He is a rocket-boy, full of energy, never still. She looks like a winner. You’re blessed.

Thanks for sharing Esmeralda with us! She’s gorgeous. I’m so sorry your lost her sister too soon. I have always loved German Shepherds because they are so smart and loving. Yes, they can sometimes take their “guarding” duties a little too seriously, but as you have discovered, that can be coped with. Whenever we get a GS at the shelter, I always pray it finds a home quickly. They are dogs that absolutely need a person to love!

Thank you, Ann! She is quite smart, very easy to train. She does like to protect but a good listener. I would want to take them all home. They definitely need a family to love. I’m so glad you walk and care for the dogs at the shelter. It’s heartbreaking that there are so many fantastic dogs in there. ππΎπ

I love your thought: “I don’t think my creations would be quite the same without her by my side.” I can imagine that. I think animals do bring a certain perspective and energy to our creativity. Esme is lovely.
