There is just something about the beauty of poppies, commonly known as the Black Opium Poppy, Papaver somniferum, or the breadseed poppy. This is a species of a flowering plant in the family – Papaveraceae. It is the species of plant from which opium and poppy seeds are derived and is a valuable ornamental plant, grown in gardens. Its native range is probably the eastern Mediterranean, but is now obscured by ancient introductions and cultivation.
The Black Opium Poppy is a gorgeous purple that is so deep in color, they are almost black. See it in its natural state. They offer such a beautiful addition to the garden.

Just stunning. The purple is eye-candy, but the fine details of the stem and leaves are almost tangible. Super talent. Hugs.

Poppies are one of my favourite flowers, there’s something so special about their delicate and fragile petals, isn’t there? And if course I love to see bees and bumblebees gorging themselves on them! 😄💕

There is something special about them. They are so fun to draw, too. To see those bumbles all happy it makes me smile.
