Garden and Fashion Ephemera

Bee Hive Clothing House Bee and Dahlia Paper 8x10 jpeg

Besides looking for the next new art supply to try, I’m always on the hunt for ephemera. Antique illustrations have a patina that make them special. Finding old garden periodicals that have hit the public domain are like Christmas. Many are in need of repair from age, light, or water damage. Once they have been restored, they make such beautiful clipart to create a new piece.

Last night I stayed up way too late to work on the wine colored dahlia that I have layered into the piece above. Bees, fashion, and art are some of my favorite things ๐Ÿ™‚ The dahlia was pulled from a garden periodical from the 1800’s. The color has been restored and some of the petals on the bloom and foliage were repaired.

This is set to print as an 8 x 10 but can be resized. Free for personal use. Click on the image to save to your device.

I hope you have a beautiful Sunday!

Much love,

Lisa

  1. Ooh! This one looks fantastic, Lisa! I’ve been trying to paint a dahlia last spring and gave up – far too many petals! ๐Ÿ˜‚ No wonder you stayed up all night. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ๐ŸŒท
