September is a transition month here in Michigan. The air has a nip, the trees lush green begins to fade, turning into the spectacular display of fall colors that we all love. Just as a preview, a few of the soft woods like the birch and sugar maples begin to glow with a hint of maize and red. As the daylight is noticeable shorter, the flower blooms begins to show fatigue, and the humidity fades. This summer has been especially hard on our favorite plants. Whether you loved the crazy heat wave that swept through or not, September finds us digging out our thicker socks and knit sweaters for that cozy feel. Saying goodbye, the finale of the season is never easy.
I always like to revisit my summer. I wanted to share a few today. We just planted two hydrangeas, thank you mom! They will be beautiful next year. I also included the friendly little walking stick that likes to hang out in the front garden.
I hope everyone enjoys the last days of summer and embraces the joy and comfort of the fall season.
Much love,
Lisa
Gorgeous photos and you’ve described beautifully what I love about September. π

Beautiful blossoms, I particularly like the white hydrangea that flowers in late summer and turns pink in the fall. Iβve seen walking sticks but didnβt know what theyβre called, that will be fun to share with my grandsons:)

I’m heading West! Ok, a tiny bit North but our latitudes are similar. I never realized that till you said north and I looked it up. See, you not only give me botanical and artistic happiness but you teach me geography without even trying! Such a multi-talented gal you are! Yes, I’m very excited but I wish you could come.

Oh my gosh this made me laugh! I never thought about that, northwest for you and northeast for me…although I wish it was northeast for me. I will be sending love and hugs from MI! I am making the next trip for sure. I cannot wait to hear about the adventure.

Oh my gosh, I was only there for about 24 hours, but I never knew we could laugh so much! That crew is awesome!! You’d best make the next one! Either that or we will descend upon you! I’m a big gal, it might not be safe if I descend upon you! Just keep that in mind! It was great, but it would have been even better if you were there!!

I won’t miss it for anything! I would love all of you to descend upon me! I can imagine the laughs and spending time with everyone was priceless! I loved seeing all of you together in the pictures. I am so glad you were able to go and I was especially excited for you and Darren to meet. I love all of you so much. I cannot wait for the next trip. Love and hugs…and cannot forget the sloppy dog kisses from Esme π

Thanks for these photos, Lisa! I’m having a hard time saying goodby to summer too, and these helped. Of course, in Missouri, it stays warmer longer. But the days are still getting shorter, and the we are starting to have some cooler weather too.

It is so hard to say goodbye to summer. Missouri has such great weather. I enjoy the cool weather, if only it could be 70 all year π Enjoy the weather, I bet walking the shelter dogs is much more comfortable in this weather, too!
