When Fashion and Nature Collide – Every Dog has its Day!

HOME IS WHERE MY DOG IS.Home is where my dog is. They are a member of our family. A happy face to greet us with delight when we get home. A devotion like no other. The love of a dog changes you. They make our lives whole.  We certainly cannot forget about the art and fashion inspiration they provide. It is said we spend around 60 billion collectively on our pets. I can personally relate to this. Esme really likes her treats.

Welcome to our September edition of When Fashion and Nature Collide. On the third Wednesday of each month, we will post a new collaborative edition. You will see beautiful fashion and accessories styled and modeled by Dominique from 3C Style and original art made by me, Lisa from Lismore Paper that were inspired by Roda from Growing Self critter pictures and Darren from the Arty Plantsman flower pictures and his original art. For the full feature be sure to visit Dominique, Roda, and Darren. We also have a new model for our September edition!

A Rainy Day Fashion Statement

Every owner and their dog has to walk in the rain from time to time, more like most of the time. Why not do it with a fashion statement! This little pug couldn’t help but jump into the picture after seeing Dominique model this great September look. Inspiration by Darren’s flower, Spiloxene Capensis.Do and raincoat dog

Every dog has its Day!

Creating the art for this edition was challenging, fun, and one of my favorite loves, dogs! Using watercolor, acrylic paints, digital scanning, and graphics I began to create these pieces back in July. Dominique had an idea for a t-shirt using some of our friends on WordPress furry family members. When she asked me to create art for this project, I was thrilled. Once she and Darren gained permission from all our friends, the painting started with one of my favorites, Walter. I enjoy the stories about all of these dogs of WordPress. (Check out the links to them below).  Our own Darren modeled with two beautiful dogs while on his trip. This tee paired with a jean jacket is fun and fabulous! I also like the contrast between the shades of jean material with the coloring on the doggie tee.

  1. Wonderful post Lisa😊. I love doggies and was delighted to get involved in this project. Your doggie art and the T-shirt are fab! Dominique took the photos of me with the dogs, using my SLR camera with which she is not at all familiar. I think she did a great job. Xxxx

      1. I have a big soft spot for dogs too! I’d love to play with art for tees some day (I actually just started a printmaking course – linocut, intaglio and screen printing – I think the final projects will be t-shirts… I’ll post the results :-)).

  2. I love this post Lisa. You did such a wonderful job with the doggie T-Shirt. Can’t wait to show your cat artwork to our WP friends. I will try to make the DIY this week. I’m excited too about our next edition. So many fun ideas.

  3. I can’t even express how much I love this shirt, and it’s not just because Walter and Greta are on it, either. I just want to hug each and every dog! You did an amazing job, as you always do. Thanks also for the shout out to Walter. He’s sleeping on the couch at the moment, otherwise he’d be giving you a paws up, for sure!

  4. Such a lovely message, project and tee! Dogs are really wonderful, who could resist those eyes? 😉 Living in the city is not ideal for a dog but I hope that someday I will be lucky enough to have one. 😊💗
