Lost Again

I was supposed to be working on a special project soon to be announced, but I found myself lost again looking through ephemera. Originally, I was in search of vintage Valentine cards, but then I stumbled upon this blond beauty. I know very little about this piece, I found her in the public domain as a publishers proof.

She had some slight damage, mainly from age and sat on a plain background with printers marks. I love the soft lines and muted tones. Although I could not let her be as she was. I cleaned up the imperfections slightly, enhanced the color and brightened up the image. I then started to layer the image with words, lace, and of course botanicals. I used my own watercolor and vintage items. I merged different images of paper to place under the address that I put in the corner.

Rose will end up somewhere in my house although I am running out of room 🙂 If you would like Rose for your home or craft project feel free to download here.

What is your favorite thing to get lost in?

Have a beautiful week!

Much love,

Lisa

  1. Beautiful, just beautiful. She looks like the early 1920’s, or even the teens. Her hair color is striking, as well as her eyes. I could look at her all day. What a find. You cleaned her up nicely. You always stun me with your creative eye.

I mainly get lost in the creative process of producing music & scripts. Hours get lost.

    Hugs to you and Rose.

  2. The rabbit hole of ephemera…I know it well. This lady reminds me a bit of the Gibson Girls. She doesn’t have the big hair, but still, there are similarities. The cabbage roses are a perfect compliment to her rosebud lips. Just beautiful! 💕

  3. Your image is beautiful. Yesterday I got lost in Sylvia Plath’s poetry. I have been having a tidy of my book shelves, which has led to a few re-discoveries. I had forgotten how well I know these poems, and became completely absorbed.

  4. Rose is exquisitely beautiful and your addings are just a perfect match for this lovely lady, Lisa! She reminds me a bit of a Jane Austen character, all big eyes and femininity. 😄💕
