When Fashion and Nature Collide – Anniversary Edition

It is a season of renew, blooms, a spring palette of neutrals, pale hues of pinks, greens, and purples. There is a need to discover nature’s wonders and to inspire the artsy soul. A simple kind of beauty makes this time of the year magical. Whimsical delights dance in the changing air. It’s March, a month that marks change. This year it is extra special to me, it also marks, When Fashion and Nature Collide, first anniversary. It’s hard to believe it has been one year since this journey began. After publishing the first edition, I felt a sense of community. One year later, I cannot imagine taking another path. Dominique, Darren and all the creatives who are fellow bloggers, followers, and readers, you have enriched my life with your kindness and support month after month. Thank you!

Welcome to our Anniversary edition of When Fashion and Nature Collide. On the third Wednesday of each month, we will post a new collaborative edition. You will see art, beautiful fashion and accessories styled by Dominique from 3C Style, flowers and beautiful art by Darren from the Arty Plantsman, and original art from me Lisa@Lismore Paper. When we started to talk about our one year anniversary, I became excited. I am so proud of this project and the fact that we came together as one. Keep in mind, we live in three different countries. It truly is magic and I feel so lucky that we were brought together in this creative circle. Make sure you check out Darren and Dominique’s post for more about the creative process. All of us bring something unique to the project from style, ideas, plants, photography, and art.

I am a visual person. Color, textures, and examples spark my creative process. Dominique and Darren are fantastic at sharing these ideas visually. Most of my art starts from a sketch, pen and ink, watercolor, and a new medium that I finally experimented with called Gouache. It is like a watercolor with chalk. This makes gouache (gwash) heavier and more opaque, with greater reflective qualities. Much more to come from me using this medium. All of my art ends up in a mixed media concept, most of the time including ephemera. I seem to always fall down that rabbit hole.

It was a year of creativity, growth, and best of all friendship. I do have my favorite pieces of our collaboration, but overall, it was hard to decide what to feature. Instead, I wanted to share a bit of each month. I hope you will enjoy taking a walk down memory lane with me.

We already have many projects in progress and a growing list of to-do’s. I will set off to create art in my little retreat space near the lake in the warmer months. I will be inspired by my tribe (all of you). You have fed my need to be surrounded by creative, kindred souls. If you reside in my home state of Michigan, across the country, to the North, or across the pond, thank you for sharing a piece of yourself and a bigger thanks for allowing me to share a piece of me with you. Thank you Dominique and Darren for your creativity, knowledge, humor and friendship. It’s a treasure I will hold in my heart forever. Happy Anniversary!
