It all started with the dress. Evoking romance and a pure pleasure to the senses. White frills woven like a rose so pure and graceful. A desired connection falling into place. A fairytale. As a little girl, I was always daydreaming about these things. To live in a world of cobbled castles, frilly dresses, royal gardens filled with roses, lavender, and secret healing plants. Overlooked magic of sweet pastels so calm with tones holding intellect and balance. A purple so dignified and royal, looking sophisticated and wise. Greens so natural, comforting and healing you would be convinced you were in a storybook written by your heart.

Fashion and Nature Collide, it blends brilliantly into the folds of fabrics, patterns, and art.

Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.

Welcome to our August edition of When Fashion and Nature Collide. On the third Wednesday of each month, we will post a new collaborative edition. Once upon a time…

within the castle walls a secret garden bloomed with roses, lavender, and a healers aloe. Fairy dresses and fine fabrics filled the massive closets. If you listen close, you can still hear as the ladies stroll about the corridors. Ephemera collected from worldly travels. Field journals filled with unlikely adventure. Through the arched windows were vast lavender fields blooming.

Castle and the Gardens

Castle walls hold many secrets as does the characters in this secret garden. Planted here are the Poets Wife – unfading and strong with a rich fragrance. Just like the name it becomes sweeter and stronger with age. Grace – in shades of apricot, the fully double cupped blossom mimics the elegance and grace of the white dress. Queen of Sweden – A treaty of friendship brought her here. Elegant with a soft pink. Finally, the Lady of Shallot – who is inspired by the famous Lord Tennyson.

The Fashion

Items of royal, court and ceremonial dress in the magical surroundings of the castle. A royal white dress indeed. Was it for a wedding or a coming out. Let your imagination flourish.

A Healing Garden

Health was important. Using natural remedies they healed wounds and illness. Calmed burns and created soothing mists.

  9. So beautiful. Your craft always grabs me. I love the 3D look you give with the blooms in a couple of these shots. Your hand at watercolors draws me, excuse the pun. The three of you have knocked it out of the park once again as we begin the kiss the summer goodbye. This collaboration reminded me of something Jesus said by a field of lillies as an illustration for those with anxiety. Matthew 6:28-29 (my paraphrase & translation)
    “Why do you worry about if tomorrow you will have clothing for yourself? Considerlies of the field. They do not struggle or do 360’s from worry. For God Himself clothes them in beauty. I tell you the truth, not even King Solomon (in all his wealth) was clothed like these.”. Hugs with a garden fragrance.

  11. I am a big fan of essential oils, never get enough time to enjoy them, but rose and lavender are two of my favorites! This post makes me want to draw a bath and fill the room with some relaxing scent 🥰 Love it!
